The vivid impressions of the big movie screen can magnify the impact of many things, including landscapes where the stirring emotions of human drama are played out. That was particularly true in recent Detroit Movie Palace showings of two famous outdoor adventures: The Searchers at the Michigan Theater on August 4, 2009, and Lawrence of Arabia at the Redford Theatre on August 9. 2009.

Many times before or after a movie at the Detroit Film Theatre, I’ve taken a pleasant walk around the Cultural Center. As you can see in the following pictures, it’s one of the most beautiful parts of Detroit.

Here’s the parking lot where I always park for free, thanks to the parking pass that comes with each DFT ticket. My anticipation for that day’s film is always enhanced by the views of the different Cultural Center buildings as I walk towards the DFT auditorium.

Redford Open House

The Redford Theatre threw open its doors on Saturday, August 1, 2009 for an all-day Open House that gave visitors the special chance to explore the theater in detail.
